Slow Cooker Wendy’s Style Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 pound each ground beef and pork
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke, optional
  • 1 14 ounce can kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 28 ounce can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 2 10 ounce cans diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 15.5 ounce can mild chili beans
  • 1 15 ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 1.25 ounce envelope chili seasoning mix

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the ground beef and pork. Season with salt and pepper, continue to brown until no longer pink inside.
  • Add in the green pepper, onion, celery and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes. Drain the fat from the skillet.
  • Add the beef mixture to the slow cooker. Stir in the rest of ingredients.
  • Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 2 to 4 hours. Serve with diced red onion, corn chips, sliced jalapenos, shredded cheese, sour cream, and/or fresh cilantro.
