- 3 cups dried pinto beans, rinsed and sorted
- 7 cups water
- 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- salt and pepper to taste
Add all ingredients except the salt, pepper and oil to the crock-pot.
Cook on high for 7 to 9 hours. (My refried beans were done in 7 hours)
Use an immersion blender to puree the beans until smooth.
Add more water if needed. Add vegetable oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve as a side dish with salsa and shredded queso cheese.
