Snickerdoodle Cookies

A new twist on an old favorite. Made with an Amish Friendship Bread Starter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 4 cups flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sugar for rolling
  • cup cinnamon for rolling

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375° F
  • In a large mixing bowl, add in wet ingredients.
  • Mix in rest of ingredients except the ¼ cup sugar and and ⅓ cinnamon.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  • Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Place balls 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes
  • Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

Notes

Instead of baking cookies, freeze them. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or waxed paper drop tablespoon size mounds of batter onto sheets. Freeze until firm. Place frozen pieces into ziplock freezer baggies and freeze until ready to bake.
