Slow Cooker Cherry Dump Cake

- 2 quarts homemade cherry pie filling OR
- 2 21 oz cans cherry pie filling
- 1 15.25 oz box yellow cake mix
- 1 stick butter
Pour cherry pie filling into a 5 quart slow cooker.
In a small microwave safe bowl, melt butter.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the dry yellow cake mix and the melted butter. Stir to combine. (Mixture will be crumbly)
Sprinkle cake mix-butter mixture over the top of the cherry pie filling. Lightly pat down with the back of a spoon.
Cover and cook on Low for 4 hours or on High for 2 hours.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping, if desired.
