The History of Dump Cakes

According to the website My Food and Family, dump cakes have a serious and loyal following, especially on the potluck circuit. The reason may be because it’s so easy to literally “dump” ingredients into a baking dish, put it in the oven and bake for 45 minutes. In less than an hour you’ll have a delicious homemade dessert.

The exact origins of this dessert are clear. Most believe the dump cake was invented around the same time cake mixes arrived on the cooking scene.
