Memorial Day Picnic Favorites
Memorial Day Picnic Favorites
Today we have another ‘recipe round-up’ for you. We’re going to share with you just a sampling of our favorite summertime recipes. Here in Wisconsin, we’re still waiting for spring to arrive let alone summer but the calendar, my friends, doesn’t lie. My hubby and I took a drive to Rhinelander Wisconsin this past week-end and we saw a few patches of snow in the wooded areas. No kidding! It’s been cold, rainy and dreary.

Back To Recipes
Enough about the weather and back to recipes. This recipe round-up has eight recipes that I know you will enjoy. Frog Eye Salad and Simply Sweet Watermelon Salad are among my favorite ‘fruity’ salads. Twenty-four Hour Salad and Broccoli, Cauliflower and Bacon Salad have both stood the test of time. Now is the time to dig out those cedar planks you bought on clearance last summer and make Bacon Wrapped Grilled Trout on Cedar Planks.
Think outside the box this Memorial Day, and make Hawaiian BBQ Bratwurst Kabobs. This might sound odd but bratwurst combined with pineapple and green pepper, well that’s just plain good. Now, if you were like my hubby, you’d switch out the bratwurst with spam! Yes, indeed:) Can’t forget about dessert now can we. Both dessert recipes are made easy with convenient boxed mixes. Grilled Lemon Pound Cakeis super served with grilled pineapple and whipped cream. Then there is Rocky Road Brownies what’s not to like!
Hickory Corners WI
Last week on one of our rare sunny days, I went on one of my backroad country drives. I didn’t have a destination in mind, just out for a drive, enjoying the sunshine. I decided to go to the grocery store and took a short cut to Oconto Falls. Driving down County Highway M, enjoying the sunshine, I passed by a what appeared to be an old fashioned gas station. Since I was going the speed limit, I wasn’t sure what the heck it was.
I decided to throw caution to the wind and turned around in the nearest driveway. Thank goodness there wasn’t anyone driving behind me because I wanted to slow drive and check out the scenery. The name of the “town” was called Hickory Corners. Hickory Corners is an unincorporated community located in the town of Maple Valley, Oconto County. I slowly down pulled over to the side of the road and got out. To see what happened next, go to my YouTube channel:) YouTube Channel
