Dried Cherry Orange Scones with Orange Glaze

Living in Wisconsin, we are lucky enough to be surrounded by many naturally grown and harvested foods. Cranberries are abundant and so are cherries from Door County.  Dried cherry orange scones highlights dried Door County cherries. I add them to everything from biscuits to pies to scones.  This recipe calls for using dried cherries but you can certainly substitute dried cranberries, both are equally delicious in this recipe.

Orange Glaze

Dried cherry orange scones are not only dotted with dried cherries but are also made with fresh orange juice and orange zest. While still warm the scones are drizzled with an orange glaze made with freshly squeezed orange juice. The glaze adds just the right amount of sweet, citrus flavor. Scones have become a favorite of mine because they come together fast, bake up within minutes, and are always delicious.
