Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie Bars

This weekend when my sweet tooth reared its ugly head, I found this recipe on the back of a box of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. Lucky we had all the ingredients including a box of Ghirardelli Chocolate Supreme Brownie Mix with Chocolate Syrup. Cookie Duo Bars are made with both. Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix AND Ghirardelli Chocolate Supreme Brownie Mix. Therefore making this recipe double delicious!

What Are They Called?

The name of the recipe found on the back of a box of Ghirardelli dark chocolate chip cookie mix, was Cookie Duo Bars. To be honest, I didn’t really like that name. It didn’t really mention the fact that the bars are made with two different Ghirardelli products. If you have ever made any type of Ghirardelli brownies, you know how good they are! As for the box of chocolate chip cookie mix? This was my first purchase. In a word, YUM!

Easy and Fast

Easy and Fast are the two magical words for this recipe. Chocolate chip cookie and brownie bars or duo bars have a brownie layer on the bottom and a cookie layer on the top. My two favorite things combined into one delicious bar. It doesn’t get much better than that, at least not in my book. To add an extra layer of yum, top these duo bars with a thin layer of chocolate frosting.

Few Ingredients Needed

Because this recipe uses two packaged products, chocolate chip cookie mix and brownie mix, the ingredient list is minimal. Besides the packaged mixes, oil, eggs, water and butter is needed. This recipe makes a 13 x 9-inch baking pan which is perfect to bring along to gatherings, picnics or backyard barbecues. This is an easy, fast recipe and the end results are delicious.
