Flag Day Parade
Honoring Flag Day since 1950, Appleton’s parade is recognized as the nations oldest Flag Day Parade. It has evolved into a huge event drawing upwards of 60,000 spectators from all over. They come to honor the flag and to thank veterans for their service. To see boy and girl scouts marching, bands playing patriotic music, floats displaying flag themes and to spend time with family and friends.

The Flag Day Parade has between 100 to 150 units, which makes it one of the longest Flag Day Parades too, lasting about 2 1/2 hours. The Appleton Flag Day Parade has achieved the honor of being recognized as the oldest Flag Day Parade in the Nation. Every year on Flag Day, rain or shine, the parade takes place. Oddly enough, I don’t ever remember it raining during the flag day parade…and I’ve been to quite a few in my lifetime.
