Chili Mac Casserole
Chili Mac Casserole is made in your crock pot. This recipe is perfect for when you don’t want to heat up your kitchen but your hungry for a hearty, comfort food, casserole. Growing up in a household of 6 children, Aggie, served a casserole for dinner often. Waay back…when I was a kid, casseroles were a great way to feed a large family on a limited budget. A casserole was typically made with ground beef, canned creamed soup or tomato sauce, chopped onions, celery and/or green pepper and some form of pasta. Combined in a casserole and then baked. This is the basic formula for a casserole. This formula has not changed over the years, which is why a casserole has stood the test of time.
What is a Casserole
Casserole is a term that refers to both a baking dish and the ingredients it contains. Casserole cooking is fast, easy and affordable. A “casserole dish” usually refers to a deep, round, ovenproof container with handles and a tight fitting lid. It can be glass, metal, ceramic or any other heatproof material. A casserole’s ingredients can include meat, vegetables, beans, rice, pasta and anything else that you might want to add. Often a topping such as cheese or breadcrumbs is added for texture and flavor.
