As a Side or Main Dish

Home-style fried corn can be served as a side dish or as a main dish. Served fried corn over mashed potatoes, with a sprinkle of crispy bacon for a super delicious meal option. Home-style fried corn is best made with fresh corn-off-the-cob but frozen, store bought corn will also work. The flavor will be delicious but not as delicious when using fresh corn.

When in Season

When corn is in season in your area, (end of July, August and September in my area) buy a few extra dozen of fresh corn, cut the corn off the cob and freeze it in zip-lock freezer bags. Then when you want to make home-style fried corn, you’ll have fresh/frozen corn at your fingertips. I’ve been  doing this for years and corn frozen this way retains it’s fresh flavor. Follow the directions here:

Home-style fried corn is one of our favorite ways to eat corn.
