Banana Mulberry Sourdough Pancakes






Banana Mulberry Sourdough Pancakes

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup milk (2 to 4 tablespoons more for a thinner pancake)
  • 1/2 cup mashed banana
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup to 1 cup fresh or frozen mulberries or berries of your choice
Cooking Directions
  1. Combine the starter, flour, mashed bananas, and 1/2 cup milk. Cover and let rest 30 minutes in a warm place. Add the oil, baking soda, salt and egg. Stir until combined.
  2. Heat a griddle to 350ยบ Grease lightly with oil.
  3. Pour desired amount of batter on hot surface. Sprinkle surface with mulberries or desired berries. Flip each pancake over when surface bubbles and the edges are slightly dry.
  4. Cook until golden brown.
  5. Serve with maple syrup or berry syrup

    1. Hi~ To me Mulberries taste like a combination of blackberries, blueberries and acai berries. They have a dark blue/black color also.

  3. I love banana pancakes! My son made them for me the first time. Yum! And adding berries is another plus! Do you grow your own mulberries?

    1. Hi Joan~ Thanks for stopping by:) My son and his wife moved into a home that has been in my daughter-in-laws family for over 60 years. On the property there are 4 humongous Mulberry Trees. They weren't even sure what they were, so when we found out they were Mulberries and delicious, we harvested the berries and froze them....I made jelly also:)

  9. I heard about mulberries as a child through the nursery rhyme 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush' but never actually knew what they looked like until now! Your pancakes look delicious!

  12. Congratulations on a year with Sourdough Surprises! You're much more consistent with it than I am. :) I enjoy it, too. It is fun, and stretches my abilities in ways that probably wouldn't happen without the challenges.

  16. These pancakes look wonderful, I love banana pancakes! I've never made pancakes using a sourdough starter, I will need to try that sometime (once I successfully master the sourdough starter, so far it hasn't been successful!), that sounds REALLY good!
